Danny Rand—Iron Fist

The final Defender arrives! I just finished Iron Fist and I wanted to pump this entry out before school picks back up for me again—won't have time to work as much when that happens.

I've also made minor adjustments to Daredevil, given that he's not nearly as talented a fighter as Iron Fist (DD's skillset is more focused around being intimidating, lawyering, and noticing everything).

Name: Daniel Rand
Race: Human
Experience: 65 (Heroic)
Power Level: Street Fighter with Super Karma (Rising Stars; 30 PP)
Agility d10; Smarts d6; Spirit d10; Strength d6; Vigor d8
Pace 6; Parry 10; Charisma –2; Toughness 6
Hindrances: Clueless, Heroic, Loyal, Outsider, Phobia (m, airplane turbulence), Vow (M—sworn enemy of the Hand)
Edges: Arcane Background (Super Powers), Filthy Rich, Combat Sense, Dodge, Level Headed, Nerves of Steel, Martial Artist, Acrobat, Counterattack, Improved Frenzy, Improved First Strike, Block.
Skills: Climbing d8, Fighting d12+1, Investigation d4, Knowledge (Kun'Lun) d4, Notice d8, Stealth d8.
Inventory: Clothes, iPod.
Powers:
  • Animal Control (1): Level 1. Limitation (–1, can only be used to pacify animals). (Zen animal empathy.)
  • Armor +8 (3): Heavy Armor. Requires Activation, Limitation (–2, right hand only), Limitation (–2, Benny and Spirit roll to activate; failure disables this for the day. GM may impose penalties for un-zen circumstances), Limitation (–1, Spirit roll to maintain every round). (The Iron Fist is indestructible.)
  • Attack, Melee (6): Damage Str+3d6, AP 4, Heavy Weapon, One Arm. Contingent on successful armor. (The Iron Fist.)
  • Healing (5): Cure. Contingent on successful armor, Limitation (–1, Cure incurs 2 points of Fatigue, failure Incapacitates). (Channeling the chi from the iron fist to repair the body.)
  • Super Attribute (4): Agility +1, Spirit +1. (Exceptional training and zen demeanor.)
  • Super Edge (8): Combat Sense, Dodge, Level Headed, Nerves of Steel. (Exceptional training and zen demeanor.)
  • Super Skill (3): Fighting +2, Notice +1. (Exceptional training and zen demeanor.)

Danny Rand was born to the billionaire founders of Rand Enterprises. Raised in a sheltered upbringing in New York with his friends Joy and Ward Meachum, Danny was a good-hearted kid, even through Ward's bullying. Unfortunately, on a family trip to China, Danny's plane went down in the Himalayas, killing both of his parents. Danny was found by a group of mysterious monks, who took him back to the mystical city of Kun'Lun.

The monks there trained him, particularly Lei Kung, the Thunderer, in the mystical martial arts. Danny was also taught to keep his emotions in check, though he seemed to have trouble pushing emotions from his heart in times of stress, and his penchant for trouble-making with his best friend Davos resulted in many stories. However, having learned the art of zen combat, Danny was chosen to partake in the Trial of Shou-Lao the Undying, an enormous dragon beast. Danny subdued the beast and plunged his fists into its molten heart—a tattoo of Shou-Lao burned itself onto his chest, and Danny became the Iron Fist, sworn enemy of the Hand.

15 years after his plane went down, the gates of Kun'Lun opened once again, allowing Danny to escape into the world and make his way back to New York. His antics in entering the Rand Enterprises headquarters, however, complicated matters, with Ward branding him as an insane person trying to steal the Rand name and submitting Danny to an asylum. Eventually, though, things were ironed out and Danny was reinstated within the company, and immediately started driving profits down with idealistic and unwise business decisions, much to the chagrin of Ward and Joy.

In this time, Danny met Colleen Wing, a martial artist in Chinatown, and Claire Temple, one of her students, and began to work with them to uncover a heroin manufacturer by the docks. This turned out to be run by Madame Gao and the Hand, who were using it to gain an economic foothold in the city. Danny also found out that Harold Meachum, his father's best friend, was still alive, albeit through poor life decisions and a deal with the Hand. Danny did his best to apprehend the Hand and save as many as he could, but when Colleen was poisoned by a fight with the Hand (and Danny discovered the healing capabilities of the Iron Fist), they ended up in an installation with an imprisoned Gao, only to find out that Colleen was a member of a different faction of the Hand all along.

Escaping with Davos, who only recently found him in New York, they retreated for Danny to recharge his chi and destroy this rogue faction of the Hand with the assistance of Colleen, but not before Ward and Joy were put into serious danger at the hand of Bakuto, this Hand faction's leader. After dealing with this threat, Danny discovered that Harold Meachum might have engineered the plane accident to kill his parents, and worked with Ward and Joy (newly on his side in light of the revelation) to defeat Harold (with the killing blow attributed to Ward's gun).

Danny offered to bring Colleen back to Kun'Lun, but at the gates, they discovered that an attack had occured and the gates were shut. They will likely pick up here in the Defenders later this year.

Power Stunts:
  • Deflection (4): –6 to hit with ranged attacks. Contingent on a successful armor. Danny uses the Iron Fist to deflect a bullet against Harold in the series' climax.
  • Explode (5): Damage 4d8, Large Burst Template. Contingent on a successful armor. Danny uses the Iron Fist to slam into the ground, causing massive amounts of damage to the rooms and security officers around him.
  • Parry +4 (4): During Danny's tournament against the Hand, he goes full zen and effortlessly blocks hits from his opponent.
————————————————————————————————————————

So, it was a quick and dirty Savaging, and boy I don't think I've ever seen anyone with a Persuasion that low (d4–4 with his Outsider modifiers). The Iron Fist, however, is quite powerful, and will only grow moreso as he gains Experience, and his status as a Rising Star allows him to gain even more uses of his chi as time goes on. Personally, I'm thorouhgly interested to see what he ends up with in the future.

Leave your questions, comments, and complaints about the show's weak writing and choreography below. Don't be too harsh, though; it was mediocre, not total garbage.

Jessica Jones—Private Eye

In the essence of continuing to put out content on this blog, as opposed to letting it die, I'll go ahead and put out a mainstay super heroine, who should be one of the heroes present in the upcoming Defenders show on Netflix.

Name: Jessica Jones
Race: Human
Experience: 60 (Heroic)
Power Level: Street Fighter with Super Karma (35 PP)
Agility d8; Smarts d8; Spirit d8; Strength d12+4; Vigor d8
Pace 8; Parry 6; Charisma 0; Toughness 9
Hindrances: Habit (M—Alcohol), Heroic, Mean, Night Terrors, Poverty, Short Temper
Edges: Arcane Background (Super Powers), Attractive, The Best There Is (super strength), Luck, Fleet-Footed, Investigator, Elan, Counterattack, Nerves of Steel, Dodge.
Skills: Fighting d8, Intimidation d6, Investigation d8, Persuasion d6, Notice d8, Shooting d4, Stealth d6, Streetwise d10, Taunt d4, Throwing d4.
Inventory: Camera, Cell Phone, Hip Flask.
Powers:
  • Attack, Melee (4): Damage Str+d6, Heavy Weapon, Lethal, Multiple Attacks.
  • Leaping (4): Level 5. Leaps 32" vertically and 64" horizontally. Limitation (–1, leaping is an action above Level 1. Level 2 requires a Spirit roll, Level 3 requires a Spirit roll at –2, Level 4 requires a Spirit roll at –4, Level 5 at –6).
  • Regeneration (5): Level 2, rolls to heal every hour. Recovery.
  • Resistance (1): Complete immunity to Kilgrave's control.
  • Super Attribute (16): Strength +7, Vigor +1.
  • Super Edge (2): Fleet-Footed.
  • Toughness +3 (3): Enhanced physiology.
Jessica Jones was in an accident at a young age, which killed her brother and parents. While recovering in a hospital, Jessica was joined by her friend Trish Walker and her mother, who adopted her because it would be good for the public image. While living with Trish, though, Jessica discovered that she had developed superhuman powers in her crash.

Years later, after Jessica quit a lousy day job, she started to become more and more comfortable with her powers, and was almost convinced by Trish to actually put her talents towards the super hero business. Unfortunately, tragedy befell her when she was found by Kilgrave, who mind controlled her and forced her to effectively be his "girlfriend," where he raped her and used her abilities to make her his personal muscle. Jessica was finally able to break free after Kilgrave forced her to murder an innocent woman. Kilgrave appeared to have been killed in a bus crash moments later. Jessica developed a drinking problem and started suffering from PTSD due to the abuse she suffered.

Shortly afterwards, Jessica became a private investigator under her own company: Alias Investigations. Jessica cooperated with lawyer Jeri Hogarth taking odd jobs that no one else was able to deliver on, and her exceptional talent kept the bills paid and the lights on. On another job, Jessica found and befriended (and later became more than friends with) a bartender named Luke Cage. Shortly afterward, however, she began to uncover evidence that Kilgrave had actually survived the crash, and was currently out for vengeance.

Jessica took it upon herself to stop Kilgrave, saving cop Will Simpson, who attempted to help her capture Kilgrave. Unfortunately, their leads went south, and Jessica was forced to stay with Kilgrave at her old house for a few days. Simpson was severely wounded in an attempt to save Jessica, but Jessica was able to knock out and escape with Kilgrave, trapping him in a hermetically sealed room.

Through a variety of means, Jessica was able to lure Kilgrave's parents to her in an attempt to reason with him: they had performed horrible experiments on him, granting him his powers, and unfortunately, he killed his mother and kidnapped his father, escaping from the room but revealing that Jessica was no longer subject to his control. In attempting to track Kilgrave down again, Kilgrave killed the girl that led Jessica to him and escaped as she bled out.

Jessica was then lured into an unrelated trap by Simpson, who was amped up on some kind of enhancement drug. She, along with Trish (also on Simpson's pills) managed to beat him into submission, though Trish was hospitalized through what effectively amounts to an overdose. Soon after, Jessica bore witness to an explosion at Luke's Bar, and Luke begins helping her track Kilgrave back down. Upon finding him, however, it's revealed that Kilgrave still had control over Luke, forcing him to fight and try to kill Jessica. Jessica incapacitated him via shotgun to the head and brought him to Claire Temple for treatment while she went to finish dealing with Kilgrave, ultimately snapping his neck.

Jessica still suffers from PTSD, but her status as a powered person is now more or less public knowledge, and her business appears to be booming. Only time will tell if she's still able to do her job or if she's drowning her sorrows in booze.

JJ's leaping has its limitation on it because she only truly leaps once, when she was bringing Kilgrave away from the house he acquired. This makes it something more of a last-ditch ability than something that's incorporated into her usual transportation.

Anyways, I've finally started making some waves in this little pond again; it's been too long. Leave questions, comments, and suggestions below.

Frank Castle—The Punisher

So, it's finally here. Daredevil season 2. If you haven't seen it yet, stop reading this right now and go watch the living shit out of it; it's some of the best TV that I've ever seen. On top of that, we get nearly a full season of the best portrayal of the Punisher I've ever seen; he's brutal, ruthless, tragic, pragmatic, and extremely driven.

So, lots of spoilers below. Once you've gone to see how fucking awesome this season is, come back here to take a look at our MCU Punisher.

Frank Castle was a soldier deployed to Afghanistan as a United States Marine Scout Sniper, accommodating his marksmanship and exceptional perception. He also has a reputation for being a fun guy, a wonderful family man, and more than willing to lay his life on the line for the men in his squad, including one Colonel Ray Schoonover.

In August 2015, Castle was shipped back home to New York and his family. After a heartfelt day of reuniting with his kids and wife, and quickly going to bed due to exhaustion, Frank brought his family to the park the next day. Unfortunately, the park was a staging area for a sting on the Irish, the Cartel, and the Dogs of Hell biker gang, that went horribly south. More than 100 gang members opened fire into the park, completely killing Frank's entire family as well as many others, and fatally wounding Frank himself. Soon after that, Frank was brought to the hospital, dying for a minute before his heart started to beat again on its own.

After leaving the hospital, Frank realized that his entire family was dead and went underground, getting himself a new apartment as well. He acquired several high-powered weapons, including a shotgun, an M4A1, and an M203 grenade launcher, and began his reign of terror, slaughtering members of the gangs that were involved in the deaths of his family. During his campaign, he was even mistakenly credited as an entire squad rather than one man.

Later on the same night after he took off the local head of the Irish mafia and stole more than a million in funds, Frank was confronted by the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, who intervened multiple times in the execution of one of the Irish's hitmen. During his second attempt, Frank captured and chained Daredevil down, and forced him to choose to shoot Frank or let him kill the hitman, where Daredevil took a third option and knocked Castle out. Castle made it out, alive, though, and moved to finish off the Irish. They convinced him to meet at the carousel where his family was killed and then tasered him multiple times, leading to the Irish boss torturing Frank for the location of the money he stole before Frank broke himself free. Frank and Daredevil worked together to decimate the Irish, though Daredevil refused to let him kill anyone. Frank allowed himself to be turned in shortly afterwards.

The small firm Nelson and Murdock worked to try and represent him in court, preventing him from receiving the death penalty, helped along mostly by Karen Page's efforts to connect with him. Unfortunately, Frank refused to be labelled as mentally ill, effectively throwing the entire trial and being sent to prison, where he was greeted by Wilson Fisk, and recruited to assassinate a rival prison-gang boss. After being left for dead (and surviving anyways), Fisk arranged Castle's release under the pretense that he continue to go after gangsters and criminals on the outside. While against working as a hitman, Frank took the deal anyways so he could escape and finally kill off the heroine broker that led to his family's deaths.

Frank was then implicated in several shootings, painted as a monster before saving Karen from an attempted assassination. He then used her as bait in a restaurant to pull in the attempted murderers and proceed to completely wreck their shit. As he interrogated one of the survivors, Castle acquired the name of a shipyard, where he decimated the guards and coated his target ship in gasoline, ready to die if it meant bringing down his target. Daredevil intervened again, however, and kept Frank from killing anyone else before a large squad of private soldiers, arrived to try and finish him off.

Frank survived again, however, and tailed Karen for a short while before she was kidnapped by Colonel Schoonover. He ended up being the drug lord, and was preparing to assassinate her before Frank wrecked their car, leading Schoonover to an abandoned shack and executing him. While looking around, however, the shack appeared to have a fake wall, where Castle discovered an armory of guns and ammunition, as well as the body armor that he painted his famous skull onto. Shortly afterwards, Frank showed up very briefly to assist Daredevil fight against the Hand on the rooftop before disappearing into the night, finally returning to his home and burning it to the ground.

He was last scene leaving his burning home, minigun in one hand, and presumably out to execute more criminals. Accurate Attack is a custom Edge that's detailed in Hawkeye's post.

Luke Cage—Power Man

Jessica Jones has been out for a fair while, so I wanted to put some numbers onto Luke Cage. He's a really interesting character in that he's really, really durable, except against blunt force trauma. I think I did a pretty good job slapping him together, though.

Name: Luke Cage
Race: Human
Experience: 70 (Heroic)
Power Level: Street Fighter with Super Karma (35 PP)

  • Toughness +1 (1): Hyper-dense musculature.
Carl Lucas was a talented athlete born to a preacher in Georgia and was best friends with a Willis Stryker (secretly his father's "love child"), who he got into all sorts of shenanigans with, including learning how to fight. Eventually, though, Carl and Willis were caught stealing a car for a joyride; Willis was sent to prison while Carl instead was allowed to go if he became a Marine Corpsman due to the influence of his father. After his tour of duty, Carl became a police officer in Savannah.

Years later, Carl was framed for a crime and sent to Seagate Prison. He met Reva Connors, the intervention councilor who he would eventually go on to marry, but was forced into a fighting ring run by corrupt prison security guards. After training and fighting for months, he was finally confronted by two other inmates—Shades and Comanche—who ganged up on him and beat him close to death.

Reva Connors, whose work as a councilor was a cover for screening subjects for an experimental scientific experiment to create superior human beings, convinced the lead scientist to put Carl through the procedure, hoping to cure him. There was a power surge, and the experiment accidentally provided Carl with superhuman durability and strength. Carl broke through a prison wall and swam from Seagate back to the Georgia shoreline.

Carl contacted Connors and changed his name to Luke Cage. She introduced him to "Pop" in Harlm, and she married Luke shortly afterwards. Reva, however, was tragically killed in an accident. Luke believed that there was more to the incident, however, and began to confront leads. Unfortunately, these led to a dead end.

Luke Cage had since acquired a bar that he runs with his friend Ron Healy. He's been down on his luck recently and has been sleeping with women, but refuses to sleep with married women on principle. One day, he slept with a P.I. named Jessica Jones, and found out soon after that she also has powers.

They briefly saw each other, connecting with each other over their powers, but she decided to cut ties with him to keep him away from something she was dealing with. He later hired Jessica to help him find information on the death of his wife, where she revealed that Reva was killed by her on accident. After his revelation, Cage cut ties with her instead.

Luke was later caught by a man named Kilgrave and mind controlled to blow up his own bar, convince Jessica to trust him, and then bring her to Kilgrave. He was forced to try and kill Jessica after Kilgrave's powers continued to not work on her, but she incapacitated him with a shotgun to the throat (unbreakable skin doesn't keep the organs from being rattled up inside).

After waking up in Jessica's apartment under the care of a nurse, and realizing that Jessica had gone to take care of Kilgrave, he left and moved from Hell's Kitchen to Harlem to try and start a new life.

Luke took a job with Pop in Harlem, living paycheck to paycheck and working two jobs to make a living. Luke was convinced to help find a troubled youth and bring him back to Pop's, however, which was supposed to be neutral ground, but a disgruntled gangster disrespected peace talks and shot up the shop, killing Pop. This helped put Luke into the spotlight as he began to fight against the crime organizations that led to Pop's death, including the notorious Cottonmouth, much to the chagrin of Harlem cop Misty Knight.

Soon into this crusade, however, Cottonmouth was found murdered, with Luke being framed for his killing. This put Luke on the run from the cops, as well as an independent agent calling himself "Diamondback," who severely wounded Cage using experimental military-grade Hammertech bullets. With the help of Claire Temple, he tracked down the scientist that originally concocted the serum to help her treat Luke, but Luke found out from old data files that Reva was actually working for the enhancement program that gave Luke his powers. Luke destroyed the scientist's barn and made his way back to New York.

Diamondback, actually Luke's long-lost friend Willis, sought revenge for Luke abandoning him, putting aside a black market empire that he had constructed to do so. Diamondback put out special Judas Bullets into circulation by using Mariah Dillard—Cottonmouth's sister—to lobby for the police commissioner to use them in apprehending Cage.

Eventually, Diamondback's rampancy did so much damage to himself that he deconstructed Harlem's most prominent crime families before attempting to (and failing) to attack Cage himself. Diamondback was beaten down and taken away, while Luke's antics have allowed him to be put on the national radar, allowing Georgia state officials to locate him. Luke is currently back in Seagate Prison, being held for the remainder of his sentence.

Rocket & Groot—Mercenaries

And I finally, finally get around to putting something up for Guardians of the Galaxy. I know this is one of Marvel's most popular franchises outside of the Avengers, so I'm glad to finally have some material up for them.

Name: Rocket Raccoon
Race: Raccoon (?)
Experience: 50 (Veteran)
Power Level: Street Fighter with Super Karma (35)
Agility d8; Smarts d10; Spirit d6; Strength d6; Vigor d8
Pace 6; Parry 5; Charisma –2; Toughness 6 (1)
Hindrances: Arrogant, Distinctive Appearance, Greedy (m), Loyal, Mean, Short Tempered, Stubborn, Wanted (M)
Edges: Arcane Background (Super Powers), The Best There Is (invent), Engineer, Marksman, Rock and Roll!
Skills: Climbing d6, Fighting d6, Knowledge (Astrogation) d6, Knowledge (Computers) d8, Knowledge (Electronics) d8, Knowledge (Engineering) d10, Notice d6, Piloting d6, Repair d10, Shooting d10, Stealth d6, Streetwise d6, Taunt d6
Inventory: Modified Space Jumper (Armor +1, torso only), Laser Rifle (3d6, AP 2, 30/60/120, RoF 1, Semi-Auto, Stun [5/10/20, Vigor roll at –2 or fall Prone and Incapacitated]), Scope (+2 at Medium Range or higher).
Powers:
  • Invent (18): Level 10. Limitation (–2, may only create ranged weapons).
  • Shrink (2): Size –2, –2 to hit. Permanent. (Raccoon.)
  • Super Attribute (10): Agility +1, Smarts +2, Vigor +1. (Cybernetic enhancement.)
  • Super Skill (4): Knowledge (Computers) +1, Knowledge (Engineering) +2, Notice +1, Repair +2. (Cybernetic enhancement and raccoon senses.)
  • Toughness +1 (1): Cybernetic implants.
Not much is known about where Rocket comes from. Perhaps he was abducted from earth, maybe he belongs to a race of aliens that look exactly like raccoons. Regardless, Rocket was taken to a distant planet and experimented on with genetic modification and cybernetic enhancements. However, these horrible experiments and abuse gave the newly sentient animal a chaotic and selfish look at life, sending him into the life of mercenary work and bounty hunting.

Rocket is a mechanical genius, able to create powerful weapons from mere scraps and spare parts, and had an incredible grasp of electronics and computer code. In addition, his violent personality led him to figure out how to use a wide variety of rifles, becoming an expert marksman.

Invent Devices:
  • Hadron Enforcer (10): Range 12/24/48, Damage 5d6, RoF 1, AP 2, Focus, Heavy Weapon, Lethal, Requires Material (–2, ammunition). Rocket created a device called the hadron enforcer, that allegedly was powerful enough to knock ships out of the sky. It was only ever used on Ronan.

Name: Groot
Race: Flora Colossus
Experience: 50 (Veteran)
Power Level: Street Fighter with Super Karma (35 PP)
Agility d6; Smarts d4; Spirit d8; Strength d12+4; Vigor d12
Pace 8; Parry 6; Charisma –6; Toughness 16 (6)
Hindrances: Alien Form, Loyal, Quirk (may only speak with I am Groot), Wanted (m), Weakness (m, fire)
Edges: Arcane Background (Super Powers), Fleet-Footed, Nerves of Steel, Harder to Kill, Sweep, Common Bond
Skills: Climbing d4, Fighting d8, Intimidation d8, Notice d8, Stealth d6, Throwing d6
Powers:
  • Altered Form (8): Grapple, Reach 4. (Is a tree.)
  • Armor +6 (6): Hardy. (Bark skin.)
  • Attack, Melee (4): Str+d6, Multiple Attacks. (Thick branches.)
  • Growth (4): Level 2 (+2 to Size, Strength, and Toughness). Monster. (Is a tree.)
  • Light (1): 4" radius. (Releases glowbugs around him.)
  • Regeneration (6): Level 2, rolls to heal every hour. Regrowth. (Is a goddamn tree.)
  • Super Attribute (6): Strength +2, Vigor +1. (Tree physiology.)
At some point in his journey, Rocket met a large walking plant creature—calling himself Groot—that could grow into new shapes and sizes to help Rocket as an enforcer. Together, they now move across the galaxy, collecting money and trying to strike it rich.

One day, while on Xandar, Rocket and Groot decided to try and take a bounty that led them into a brawl with Quill and Gamora, which then led to their imprisonment in the Kyln. While there, they met Drax, who joined them in their most recent prison escape and joined them in merriment on Knowhere. Drax, being the ass that he is, insulted Rocket's stature and ended up in a brawl against Groot, that was quickly broken up by Quinn. After the explosion in the Collector's collection room, Rocket joined Gamora and Quill in an attempt to keep the Orb away from Ronan.

Through it all, Rocket had his eye on the prize until Groot made Rocket consider doing something simply to save their friends instead of getting the paycheck. Rocket was instrumental in assisting in the evacuation of the Xandarian capitol, while Groot "sacrificed" himself to give their friends the chance to save the planet with Rocket's hadron enforcer.

These days, Rocket and Groot (now residing in a planter pot) both work with Peter Quill as Guardians of the Galaxy, going around the cosmos to try and make a difference.

Power Stunts:
  • Deflection (5): Protector. Groot reshaped his arm into a shield to provide Rocket cover in the Kyln prison.
  • Matter Control (2): Plants. Groot grew out a flower to present to a young girl. This is dubious as a power stunt since it didn't really have the same impact as a full-on power, but I figured it was worth mentioning.

Matthew Murdock—Daredevil

I just finished watching Marvel's Daredevil on Netflix for the second or third time now, and it's probably one of my favorite entries in the MCU to date, as well as giving us our first truly street-level character.

As a boy in Hell's Kitchen, Matt Murdock was a bright young man. His father was a boxer but never wanted his son to fight, insisting his use his head instead of his hands, and Matt was supportive of his father, trying to encourage him and stitch him up after bad boxing matches. In fact, Matt wanted to help anyone that needed it, and at nine years old, Matt pushed a man out of the way of an oncoming truck, saving his life and having his eyes burned out by chemicals in the process. In the following months, the rest of Matt's senses intensified exponentially: his hearing, smell, touch, taste, and balance were heightened immensely. Soon after this, however, Matt's father was murdered for winning a match that he was supposed to lose.

Matt was left at an orphanage until he was found by Stick—a blind old man that trained Matt in martial arts and helped him to use his senses more effectively in combat. He became expert combatant, able to take on a dozen men at a time and come out on top, albeit with a fair number of cuts and bruises. He was taught meditative techniques to help him heal quickly, and his senses are so strong that he can feel the impression of ink to read words on a page, or hear the heartbeat of people to tell if they're lying or not.

Matt got too attached, however, and Stick left him before completing his training. Matt kept training on his own as he went through college, studying law and meeting his best friend, Foggy Nelson. After graduating top of their class, they went to intern at the prestigious firm Landman & Zack, almost landing a job before leaving due to a moral dispute.

Moving back into Hell's Kitchen, that night Matt heard a man doing some seriously messed up things with his daughter, and after being unable to deal with this in the confines of the law Matt took it into his own hands to persuade the man to stop. This began Matt's vigilante days (in a badass black costume), as he listened to the streets to find criminals and horrible people, sometimes going from place to place interrogating to find larger crime rings. At the same time, Matt worked with Foggy to found their new firm, Nelson & Murdock, hoping to make a difference in Hell's Kitchen as defense attorneys.
Vigilante Suit (Armor +1, Armor +0 if hit with a Raise)
Their first client was Karen Page, a woman who was being framed for murder due to discovering a money laundering operation of the Union Allied Construction. Matt and Foggy took her into their care, and Matt donned the suit to protect her when she went back to her apartment to retrieve the data from the UAC files. Shortly after, he met Claire Temple, a nurse that would stitch him up when he was wounded after being beaten nearly to death by the Russian mob.

The investigation of the local gang activity and Union Allied began to unravel a conspiracy led by Wilson Fisk, taking control of the entire Hell's Kitchen area. After a series of brutal interrogations, smashing through the Russian mob, and being framed as a terrorist by Fisk, a battle with the red ninja Nobu left Matt so battered that he nearly died, and likely would have had Foggy not discovered that he was the man in the mask. Shortly following this, Matt "persuaded" Fisk's armorer to make him a suit to avoid that kind of damage again, and releasing one of Fisk's old corrupt cops to bring Fisk's empire tumbling to the ground. He used his new suit (and the sweet batons that came with it) to beat Fisk down and allow him to be subdued for the police to put him behind bars.

For the next year or so, Matt worked to help keep the streets clean, while he, Foggy, and Karen worked to keep Nelson and Murdock afloat. While negotiating with a new client, however, he was put on the trail of a ruthless killer that was sweeping through Hell's Kitchen and annihilating criminals that he came across. He tracked the man down and kept him from assassinating his new client, but after a drawn out fight, the man drew a pistol and knocked Matt out in one shot.

More will be added as I gain the time to type out Matt's encounters in S2.

He has one new custom Edge:

Traceur
Requirements: Novice, Agility d8+, Strength d8+, Climbing d6+
Traceurs are practitioners of parkour, the activity of moving from one point to another as efficiently and quickly as possible. They are equally comfortable in natural surroundings as in urban areas.
These runners are unaffected by Difficult Ground and are always able to move up to their full Pace, even over rough ground, ice, or swamp. They also gain a +2 to Strength rolls made to jump either for height or distance as well as Climbing rolls. Traceurs may add +2 to Agility rolls to maintain their balance as well during Chases, both for their maneuvering roll and to avoid any obstacles.

Daredevil has always been one of my favorite superheroes and I can't wait to see where they take him next!

Johann Schmidt was professor of physics at one of the German universities, but was always fascinated with the occult, specifically Norse mythology, and built his research around the assumption that they held more truth than legend. He brought these theories to Adolf Hitler, as was later picked up by Himmler after Hitler's SA agents threw him out (unbeknownst to the Führer).

Promoted to the SS, and later the head of Hitler's advanced research division—HYDRA—Schmidt was a brilliant strategist and an extremely capable leader. He took keen interest in Doctor Abraham Erskine's research in a super soldier serum, and strong-armed Erskine into continuing his research for the purposes of HYDRA. Schmidt, obsessed with finding power, took the serum himself, but this had the unintended side-effect of making him look like a monster.

Erskine escaped with the help of Agent 13, and Schmidt refocused his efforts on Norse mythos, leading him in search of the Tesseract: an ancient artifact of nearly infinite power.

This device was able to power HYDRA's entire arsenal, and Schmidt used this to break away from the Third Reich and begin his own campaign for world conquest. Very soon, he ran into Captain Steve Rogers, and immediately formed an odd arch-rivalry with the soldier: jealous, vitriolic, and confused as to why the Captain wouldn't want to join him as a god.

This came to a head in 1944, when the US assaulted HYDRA's base. Schmidt was... transported, or disintegrated, or something, after picking up the Tesseract. He is not confirmed dead, but he's unlikely to show up for quite some time.
